The Hannah Gardner House

Tucked away on quiet cobblestone’s sits an 18th century structure just waiting to be restored.

The home at No.6 Gull Island Lane is thought to have been built by Thomas Gardner around 1780 and given to his daughter Hannah when she wed Josiah Sheffield. It was held in the Sheffield family for over a hundred years and then has had only a few owners since.

The property was acquired in October of 2019 with the intent to fully restore the original structure, while adding modern day amenities such as heat and electricity.

The goal of this project upon completion is to show how the integrity of interior details and finishes can be retained, while updating for todays modern way of living. Throughout the project, my first thought is “do no harm” and the second is, how can I make this work for generations to come.
